MEXICO CITY National Political Associations (APN) demanded that Congress take citizens into account in negotiations over political reform and avoid approving the proposal put forward by President Felipe Calderón, without changes.
The Coordinator of the APN Front, Mao Saenz, indicated that they will begin a series of actions in order to participate in the analysis of the political reform. He said that it is essential that modifications made to the content are included and that points such as the revocation of mandate, the referendum, the plebiscite, popular initiative, accountability and independent candidacies are considered, many of which are not addressed in the presidential initiative.
This debate should be had in order to improve democracy and the Mexican electoral system, for this reason the principal voice that should be listened to is that of the citizens, he said.
The opinions of Mexicans should be consulted as they make up the nation, he stressed.
